Quote of the Month:

"The reason you want every single thing that you want, is because you think you will feel really good when you get there. But, if you don't feel really good on your way to there, you can't get there. You have to be satisfied with what-is while you're reaching for more."

Do your Muscles Get Sore When Running?

Do your muscles get sore when running? Does your IT Band make running difficult at times? Do you feel like you need a deep tissue massage after running? If these issues are a problem for you, a foam roller may be the solution you are looking for.

Using a foam roller is a convenient and inexpensive way to give yourself a self-myofascial release or self-massage at home. Using your own body weight to put pressure on the areas you feel need relaxing and releasing, you can direct the workout to where you need it most. Using a foam roller regularly can help prevent injuries and speed recovery from existing injuries.

Not sure how to use a foam roller? Check out this article which includes a great video on How to Use a Foam Roller.

Recipe of the Month: Avocado and Egg Bake

These healthy treats are great for breakfast or served an appetizer.

Avocado and Egg Bake

Ingredients:

  • Avocado
  • Eggs (2 eggs per avocado)
  • Ceyanne Pepper
  • Grated Cheese

Directions:

  1. Cut an avocado in half length-wise and remove the pit.
  2. Scoop out some avocado to make the hole big enough for an egg.
  3. Place the avocado halves in a baking pan. You may want to use a small deep baking pan to help keep the avocado balanced.
  4. Pour an egg into each avocado. Some of the egg white may pour out, but it will bake with the avocados, so not to worry about wasting it. :)
  5. Sprinkle with the ceyanne pepper and a little grated cheese.
  6. Bake at 350F degrees until egg whites are cooked and yolks are desired wellness. Mine were cooked in 15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot.
